Introduction and use of claw hammer

Nov 20, 2020

Hammer is one of the common hand tools in daily life. A hammer is a tool used to strike an object to make it move or deform. We often use a hammer to strike a nail or smash something. Although hammers come in various forms, the most common form is a handle and top.

The top side is flat. This flat one can be used to hit nails to fix things, or to smash something that needs to change shape. The other side of the top is the hammer head, which should be embedded in the object, so its shape can be like a claw or a wedge. In the process of using the hammer, we must first check whether the connection between the hammer head and the hammer handle is firm. If there is any looseness, we must immediately tighten it with a wedge to prevent accidental injury to ourselves during use. The handle of the hammer can also be replaced. The length of the handle of the hammer must be moderate, not too long or too short.

If we use a large heavyweight hammer, in addition to the strong connection between the hammer head and the handle, we must also pay attention to the fact that the hammer handle must not be used if it has splits and cracks. This kind of hammer is easy to break during use; the hammer head and the hammer handle are wedge in the mounting hole, preferably a metal wedge, the length of the wedge should not be greater than 2/3 of the depth of the mounting hole; the hammer head is not allowed to be quenched, if found Flash spurs should be trimmed in time; during use, attention must be paid to front and back, left and right, up and down, and it is strictly forbidden to stand within the range of sledgehammer movement to avoid injury to others during the construction process.

The claw hammer can strike, beat, and pull nails. However, claw hammers should not be used for larger jobs. When nailing nails, the head of the hammer should be aligned with the nail cap and be struck so that the nail enters the wood vertically. When pulling nails, it is advisable to put a wooden block on the claw's horn to increase the pulling force. Because the claw hammer is relatively thin, and improper use can cause movement, so it should not be used as a prying tool.
