When the trigger is pressed, a piston inside the pump moves, creating low pressure that draws liquid up from the bottle. The liquid is then forced through a small opening in the nozzle, which breaks it into small droplets.

Q: How do you use a spray bottle for the first time?

A: You'll have to give it a good pull to get it off the first time. If you want to have a continuous mist after priming (first time you use it just press the trigger continuously until it draws liquid up) press the trigger in continuous small pumps repeatedly and it'll give you a continuous fine mist.
